Do I need to change my brake pads or whats going on?

I have a 2006 Civic. The front drivers side tire seems to be emitting a scraping sound. It goes away when I come to a stop, it doesn't get worse or anything. It does it about once everytime I drive, then I hit the brakes and it goes away.

Do I need to change my brake pads?Do I need to change my brake pads or whats going on?The brakes have a wear indicator that makes a scraping sound when the brakes are due to be replaced.

If you don't replace them, the pads wear down to the metal and start to wear on the rotor making a scraping sound. Most likely it needs brake work.

If you jack the car to check it, you will need put blocks under it. I know people that have died when cars fell on the while on a jack. Do not get under a car on a jack!!!! Get help if you don't know what you are doing.

You should get someone familiar with brakes to look at it. I know too many women that have taken cars to a mechanic and been cheated because the mechanic expects they don't know about cars. It is better to know before you get to the mechanic what you need. I have even seen them show parts that don't belong to the car, telling them it needs to be replaced. Take an experienced person with you. Don't blindly trust the mechanic. Unfortunately there are some crooks out there and it can easily cost you $1000 or more. Do I need to change my brake pads or whats going on?maybe, jack up the car and take a look. spin the tire by hand and see what is scrapping.Do I need to change my brake pads or whats going on?pass time to change just pads when you hear it scraping yes but now you have to have rotors turn or replace,,more you drive it the more it cost to fix.. drive it to a shop and have it checkDo I need to change my brake pads or whats going on?It definitely sounds like the brakes if it is making a scraping sound. And it sounds like scraping, your brakes may be really bad and the pads are actually scraping the roders.

Do I need to change my brake pads or whats going on?yes change the brake pads. the sraping/squeling your hearing is a small warning bar on the brake pad tht pretty much says change me the pads almost gone.

and change it asap because the more it scrapes the worse the rotors get Do I need to change my brake pads or whats going on?Sounds like a sticking Caliper. This means when you are not braking the pads are still lightly touching the Disk. The usual sulution is to clean the brakes or consider getting them serviced. On such a new car its probabaly best to get a main dealer to check them.Do I need to change my brake pads or whats going on?It could just be rust on your brake pads or your rotors. It happens if you don't drive your car much and you live someplace with any amount of humidity. Rust on the pads or rotors will cause your brakes to make noise the first time (or couple of times) you use them when you get in your car and go somewhere.

To be on the safe side, however, you should have someone you trust check it. Don't go to a brake shop because they'll tell you that you need new brakes. Ask someone you know that knows about cars to take a look at it, or if you have an honest mechanic, take it to him/her. That way you'll know for sure if you need a brake job.Do I need to change my brake pads or whats going on?when brakes get close to needing replaced they have a piece of metal that squeals a little to warn you that brakes need replaced it is a safety feature so that you still have some brake pad left and can get them fixed before you damage the rotor Do I need to change my brake pads or whats going on?if it,s just on 1 side, it might be a caliper hanging up. better get it looked after. you probably could tell by removing the wheel.
