How often should I change brake Pads?

I have 55k miles on my 2004 Toyota 4Runner and was wondering when I should change brake pads or rotors. They're still in good shape but how often rotors and brake pads should be changed? How often should I change brake Pads? When they are worn to about 1/8%26quot; thickness or when the wear indicator touches the rotor if equipped. How often should I change brake Pads?Brakes should be changed as needed, my friend.

When they get low is the best time. And if they are screetching then you are overdue.

You will know when its time to have them changed. How often should I change brake Pads?check with your Toyota dealer on this one because it does depend on what type of brakes and rotors you have.

for instance heavy duty rotors and breaks have a longer ware life than standard duty. How often should I change brake Pads?Brakes should be checked and cleaned every year. Pads should be changed whenever they are at the wear bar. This will help the rotors last longer. How often should I change brake Pads? That's the problem, Patel, no two vehicles are alike and some drivers get 80,000 miles on front pads and some get 12,000 miles and everywhere in between. The first check I make with a new car is at 30,000 miles, but later on when the pads are getting thin your forced to check them more often so that they don't wear down to metal and damage the rotors. You can learn to check the pad thickness yourself if your willing to remove one front wheel and check both the inside and outside pads on the tops and bottoms of the pads. 3/16 inch thick at any point is replacement time in my book. You really don't lose much by changing them 10,000 miles early because the calipers are better off when they don't extended out as far as with new pads. How often should I change brake Pads? From what I understand, you only need to change the pads when the brakes get squeeky when you stop (in dry conditions... brakes do funny things when they get wet).

As for rotors, as long as you change your brake pads, you shouldn't have to change your rotors untill they rust out. I suspect that you won't ever have to change them.

If you like to brake really fast all the time, you may want to buy some expensive pads and rotors and will have to change them out more often. If you drive like me (i like to coast to a stop at the lights, and avoid stop and go traffic) you will have much longer brake life. How often should I change brake Pads?you should get 2 semi-annual inspections yearly and they will give you brake measurments, this should give you a good idea of how much meat is left on them. (brake pads also have squealers inside the pad) so when the pad is almost worn you were hear a noise. make sure not to let the pads get too worn out or it will ruin the rotors. How often should I change brake Pads?As needed. How often should I change brake Pads?no set time on them, it's basically how you drive, long road trips or in city driving, I check mine at 30,000 miles and then have a better idea how long they are going to last.
