The caliper guide bolt is a 7mm hex head (Allen) bolt.
Note there are other hex head bolts used on other brake parts.Does anyone know what sized allen wrench is needed to change the brake pads in a 1998 BMW 328i?most likely, being a european car it will be metric. you can go to any auto parts store and get a set of allen wrenches cheap. they might even be able to tell you which size.
