Is it difficult to change your own brake pads and rotors?

My 02 ex-cabbie is thrashed and so are the brakes, compared to my parents cars my brakes are horrible and i feel crunching under the pedal going down a driveways or steep decents at very low speeds



So is it hard to change these stuff yourself? I can get both for $60 and cant afford the extra hundreds of labour...Is it difficult to change your own brake pads and rotors?You need a few specific tools to make things go smoothly. A hand impact tool will help with the screws that hold the rotors, if applicable. You should also have a torque wrench. A c clamp can push the piston back in the caliper. Follow the instructions as far as using brake grease if you want them to be quiet. Clean the new rotors with brake cleaner before installing. Remember to hang the caliper with a piece of wire, don't just let it dangle.
