special tool you can rent if you need it guess you can rent one before most parts stores will know if you do need it easy can get it beforeDo I need a special tool to change the rear brake pads on a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon?Since the 01 Tiburon has rear drum brakes (BTW, the friction material on disk brakes are called %26quot;pads,%26quot; and on drum brakes they're called %26quot;shoes%26quot;). So to replace the rear shoes you will need a special tool. Most auto parts stores (like AutoZone and O'Reilly's) will rent those tools to you for just a few dollars. They can also turn your drums to smooth out the surface of you are not replacing the drums.
