How do i change brake pads on a mustang and is it nec. to bleed the brakes?

it depends on the year of tghe car..some brakes are a pin type and some are a sleeved bolt type. After removing the wheel from the car you will see the rotor (it is round and shiny)...on the top portion of the rotor you will see the caliper (kinda big and bulky)...the brake pads are within the caliper..you must remove the caliper pins or bolts which ever the case may be and lift it off the rotor..once removed the pads should fall out with some ease...you will need a C-clamp at this point to depress the caliper piston so that the new pads will go back on the rotor...simply place the piston side brake pad back in the caliper on the piston side...use the C-clamp to depress the piston by tightening it slowly...you should feel the piston %26quot;squish%26quot; into the caliper...DO NOT FORCE THE PISTON!!..it will only damage it...the piston should be pressed all the way in...remove the C-clamp and install the new pads and do the reverse of removal to reinstall..the brake may be %26quot;mushy%26quot; afterwards but a few pumps should bring it right back to normal..no bleeding is necessary if air is not introduced to the system..Please read the sources section...your life and the life of others depend on your brakes working properly..How do i change brake pads on a mustang and is it nec. to bleed the brakes?you are a great manual, thank you!
